Anticipated Construction Look-Ahead
Week Beginning April 6, 2026 

Weather permitting, construction activities for the Centralville Sewer Separation Project will continue through mid-April as part of the City of Lowell’s ongoing effort to improve sewer capacity, reduce flooding, and protect the Merrimack River. Crews from Albanese D&S, Inc. will be working in several locations throughout the Centralville neighborhood.  

Where Work is Happening
  • Bunker Hill Avenue (West Sixth Street to Hildreth Street)
    Crews will continue installing new water lines and setting up a temporary system to keep water service running during upcoming sewer work. Additional utility work may also take place in this area. 
     
  • Hildreth Street (Bunker Hill Avenue to Ludlam Street)
    Water main installation will continue along this corridor as part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
     
  • Billings Street
    Crews will continue installing new sewer service connections for nearby properties.
     
  • Lakeview Avenue Area
    Work will include installing sewer structures and pipes, along with valve work. This may require a temporary, one-day water shutdown for some properties. If needed, residents will be notified in advance
     
  • VFW Highway near West Street CSO Facility
    Crews may perform test pits and soil testing to prepare for upcoming construction. 

What Residents May Notice
 

During construction, residents and travelers may experience: 

  • Temporary lane shifts or short-term road closures  
  • On-street parking restrictions near active work zones  
  • Construction crews and equipment during daytime hours  


City staff and contractors will work to maintain safe access for residents, businesses, and emergency services.

These activities support ongoing sewer separation and stormwater improvements throughout Centralville. As construction progresses, work locations will continue to shift across the neighborhood.
