Pre-Blast Surveys Underway for Centralville Sewer Separation Project
Upcoming Rock Removal Work to Support Critical Infrastructure Improvements
As part of the Centralville Sewer Separation Project, the Lowell Regional Water and Wastewater Utility (LRWWU) is preparing for the next phase of construction along portions of Hildreth Street and Ludlam Street.
To install new underground sewer and drainage infrastructure, rock ledge must be removed in select locations. Controlled blasting has been identified as the safest and most efficient method for completing this work and is expected to reduce the duration of heavy construction activities compared to traditional mechanical rock removal methods.
Before any blasting activities occur, a third-party pre-blast survey will be offered to properties located within approximately 250 feet of the designated work area. These surveys document existing property conditions and help establish a baseline record before construction activities begin.
Residents who receive a survey request are strongly encouraged to participate and schedule an appointment.
