Upcoming Construction Schedule – Week of
June 1, 2026

Week Beginning June 15, 2026 

Weather permitting, construction activities for the Centralville Sewer Separation Project will continue through late June and early July as part of the City of Lowell’s ongoing efforts to improve sewer capacity, reduce flooding, and protect the Merrimack River. Crews from Albanese D&S, Inc. and subcontractors will remain active throughout the Centralville neighborhood performing water main installation, water service work, sewer and drainage utility installation, roadway preparation, rock drilling, and related utility improvements.  

Where Work is Happening 

VFW Parkway Area 

Crews are expected to begin traffic setup and site preparation activities along the VFW Parkway corridor. Work may include saw cutting, erosion control measures, loom stripping, guardrail removal, hydraulic shoring assembly, fence removal, and installation of temporary fencing in advance of future utility construction. 

Bunker Hill Avenue 

Crews will continue installation of culvert, sewer, drainage, and water main infrastructure along Bunker Hill Avenue between Lakeview Avenue and West Sixth Street. 

This work is expected to require an ongoing 24-hour road closure of Bunker Hill Avenue during active construction operations. 

A planned water shutdown is currently anticipated in the Lakeview Avenue and Bunker Hill Avenue area during the look-ahead period. Residents will be notified in advance whenever possible prior to any planned water service interruptions. 

Billings Street, Barker Avenue, and Ludlam Street Area 

Water main installation is expected to continue on Billings Street between Barker Street and Bridge Street. 

Water service work is also anticipated to continue throughout the Ludlam Street, Billings Street, and Barker Avenue area. 

Additional drainage and utility work may occur in the Barker Avenue corridor as construction progresses. 

Hildreth Street 

Rock drilling operations are expected to continue on Hildreth Street in support of upcoming utility improvements. 

Crews will also continue pressure testing and chlorination of newly installed water main sections at various valve-to-valve locations throughout the project area. 

Utility Testing and Commissioning 

Pressure testing and chlorination activities will continue at various locations as newly installed water infrastructure is prepared for service. 

Planned Water Shutdowns 

The following temporary shutdowns and utility connection activities are currently anticipated: 

• June 23: Lakeview Avenue and Bunker Hill Avenue Area 
• June 30: Ennell Street and Hildreth Street Area
  
  Residents will be notified in advance whenever possible prior to any planned water service interruptions. 

Road Closures and Traffic Impacts 

Residents and commuters should expect temporary traffic impacts, lane shifts, detours, and parking restrictions near active construction zones. 

Bunker Hill Avenue between Lakeview Avenue and West Sixth Street is expected to remain under a continuous full road closure during portions of ongoing utility installation work. 

Traffic impacts may also occur near active work zones on Billings Street, Barker Avenue, Ludlam Street, Hildreth Street, and the VFW Parkway corridor.
