Upcoming Construction Look-Ahead
Week Beginning October 5, 2026
Work on the Centralville Sewer Separation Project is expected to continue throughout the neighborhood over the next three weeks. The dates below are estimates. Weather and conditions at the work site may change the schedule.
No construction work is scheduled for Monday, October 12, in observance of Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Road closures may remain in place.
Where Work is Happening
VFW Parkway Area near Bunker Hill Avenue
Crews are expected to continue work on the new drainage outlet and underground chamber near VFW Highway and Bunker Hill Avenue, along the Merrimack River.
Digging between the outlet and underground junction chamber is scheduled to take place between October 13 – 16. During the week of October 19, crews expect to install a culvert to carry water and fill the ground around it.
Bunker Hill Avenue
Crews are anticipated to continue installing the culvert during the week of October 5.
Sewer pipe and connections to sewer and water lines are expected October 13 – 16. Crews also expect to break up about 250 feet of roadway to prepare for more work.
During the week of October 19, sewer and water connection work is expected early in the week, followed by more culvert installation.
Kirk Street and Merrimack Street
Crews are expected to install two storm drains on Kirk Street October 6 – 7.
Water connection work near Merrimack Street and Kirk Street is expected October 13 – 16. Crews also expect to replace a fire hydrant on Kirk Street and pave around the connection. This work may require a temporary water shutoff. The time and affected properties have not yet been confirmed for this update.
Father Morissette Boulevard, Worthen Street, and French Street
During the week of October 5, crews expect to remove temporary utility pits on Father Morissette Boulevard and Worthen Street. Water valve installation is also expected on Father Morissette Boulevard.
More valve work and digging to check underground pipes are expected October 13 – 16. Crews also expect to disconnect and remove an existing water pipe fitting on French Street.
Hildreth Street and Ludlam Street
Rock drilling on Hildreth Street is nearly complete. Crews expect to move onto Ludlam Street this week and continue drilling until they are through the rock.
Beginning Tuesday, October 6, crews will install sewer main, sewer service connections, and water service connections on Hildreth Street between Homestead and Ennel Street. This work is expected to continue into next week. Installation of the 60-inch stormwater pipe is expected to resume mid- to late next week.
Willard Street, Beacon Street, and Twentieth Street
Crews expect to install stormwater pipe along the Willard Street–Beacon Street–Twentieth Street route October 14 – 16.
Road Closures & Traffic Impacts
The 24-hour closure on Bunker Hill Avenue between West Sixth Street and Hildreth Street is expected to continue during culvert and sewer work.
A 24-hour closure on Hildreth Street is also expected to continue during underground pipe installation. Roads may remain closed when crews are not working.
Drivers may see lane changes, detours, and parking restrictions near work areas. Please slow down, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time. City staff and contractors will work to maintain safe access for residents, businesses, and emergency services.
